The horizontal line on the right is a qubit: the quantum version of a bit. A normal bit is a 0 or a 1, like a light switch. A qubit can be more interesting, as you're about to see.
Right now the qubit starts as |0⟩ (read: “ket zero” — the fancy brackets are just how physicists write it). The bar chart below the wire says: if you looked at this qubit, you'd find 0 with 100% certainty.
